Fastest Car in the World
Car is a four-wheeled, engine-powered vehicle used for transport of passengers. In 1769, the steam engine automobile was introduced which paved way to greater things, making people’s lives easier and more convenient. As a matter of fact, cars have become a primary source of transportation for many and have given the people a choice to travel anywhere they want, without the hassle of commuting.
At present, car manufacturers have incorporated various features and latest technology in order to make their product stand out from the rest. Aside from the design and engine, some manufacturers such as Hennessey and McLaren are particular about the automobile’s speed to make their vehicle the fastest around. Unfortunately for them, the fastest car in the world already belongs to Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport.
Car Specifications and Design
Elegant is an understatement. Bugatti Veyron Super Sport will always be a reminder of Ettore Bugatti’s pioneering spirit when he first established the company. It is equipped with 8.0 liter, 16 cylinder engine where each cylinder contains 4 valves. It has a power output of 1,200 horsepower at 6,400 rpm with a maximum torque of 1,500 Newton meters. Aside from this, the vehicle has a twin clutch gearbox with seven speeds that provides you with an excellent and precise driving performance, thanks to its intelligent all-wheel drive system.
Veyron Super Sport’s acceleration is not like any other. It can run up to 100km/h in just 2.5 seconds, up to 200 km/h in 6.7 seconds and up to 300 km/h within 14.6 seconds. It also has an excellent stability when it comes to braking, which can be attributed to carbon fiber reinforced silicon carbide composite discs, and accelerating with a redesigned chassis to ensure the driver’s safety even when driving at a top speed. And because of the car’s stronger Anti-Roll bars, new shock absorbers and raised main spring rate, the driver has more precise control over the automobile as a whole.
And with Veyron Super Sport’s aluminum, elegant black and orange elongated silhouette design, it is hard to not notice this car once it’s on the road. Its body was designed for aerodynamic efficiency and balance to ensure safety. And like many others, a brilliantly designed car comes with a certain price – a whopping US$2.4 million.
In 2010, the Guinness Book of World Records named Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport as the fastest production car on earth by hitting a record of 431.072 kilometers per hour (267.8 miles per hour). However, it was discovered that the vehicle’s electronic speed limiter was deactivated, which was against the official guidelines. If that’s the case, then Hennessey Venom GT will be the fastest automobile at 265.7 mph.
Bugatti argued that the reason why speed limiter is activated is due to safety reasons, especially when the car will be used on streets. Nonetheless, their record must still stand.
Regardless of the controversy involving the vehicle, the speed exhibited by Veyron Super Sport is still commendable. Speed, elegance and simply irresistible – these are only a few words to describe Bugatti Veyron Super Sport.
