Everyone has their personal favorite NBA Basketball Team with a set of their much loved NBA Basketball Players. With the NBA playoffs soon to come, it is just right to write an article about the highest paid basketball player in 2013. We all know these privileged individuals are pretty much living the dream. Imagine playing your chosen sport in front of national television and making big money as you are being adored by a number of fans.

The highest paid has been on the top of the list not only this year, but other times in the past. He first entered the NBA straight from high school and has played for the Lakers his entire career. Do you have a clue who this person is? You’re probably thinking the right answer.

The Black Mamba is the highest paid basketball player as of 2013, more popularly known as Kobe Bean Bryant of course. He was reported to make a whopping $59.8 million with $27.8 million on-court and $32 million off-court. He is said to have a $7 million higher salary compared to other player’s on the list of top paid basketball players. Kobe was born on August 23, 1978 and is an American professional athlete. Like mentioned above, he entered the NBA straight from high school and has player with the Los Angeles Lakers his entire career. He has already won five NBA championships at the age of 34 years old. He is a 15 time All Star, 15 time member of the All-NBA Team and also 12 time member of the All-Defensive team. He also ranks the third and fourth of the league’s all-time post season scoring as of March 2013.

Kobe went to Lower Merion High School where he was easily recognized as the top high school basketball player in the country .Upon his graduation, he was declared to be eligible for the NBA Draft. He was then selected as the 13th overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets, but later on he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. Even as a rookie, he had the reputation of being high-flying and a fan favorite since he won the 1997 Slam Dunk Contest.

He is also known to be the youngest basketball player in the league that has reached 30,000 career points in all of the league’s history. In the Lakers franchise history, he is the all-time leading scorer. With his impressive talents, he has already won the All-Star MVP Award four times in 2002, 2007, 2009 and 2011, which ties him for the most All-Star MVP Awards in NBA history. He has also won gold medals at the 2008 and 1012 Summer Olympics in which he represented the USA National Team. He was said to be the Top NBA Players of the 2000s.

With all the achievements and awards Kobe has received all throughout his career in the NBA, it is no doubt that he is the top paid basketball player today. He still has a long way to go until he settles in for retirement.
