Largest German Shepherd
German shepherd is a dog breed of large-sized dog that, from its name, originated in Germany. These types of dogs are actually working dogs developed originally for herding and guarding sheep. Since that time, however, because of their intelligence, strength, trainability and obedience, German shepherds around the world are mostly preferred breed for many different types of work, specifically guarding, search and rescue, police and military roles and even acting. They currently account for 4.6% for all registered dogs.
No doubt about it, these amazing dogs are one of the world’s most famous and best working dogs. They are highly active which is quite enjoyable, and they are very strong as well. They have a solid muscle and slightly elongated body with light, sturdy bone structure. They are extremely faithful and brave and will not think twice about giving their lives for their human pack. They have very high learning capabilities and they just love being close to their families, but can be a bit wary to strangers. This breed needs people to look after him and should never be left isolated for a long period of time. German shepherds only bark when they feel it is necessary.
German shepherds are originally large sized dogs generally lengthen between 55 to 65 centimeters at the withers, with an ideal height of 63 centimeters. They weigh 30-40 kilograms for males, and 22 to 32 kilograms for females. They have a much domed forehead, a long squared cut muzzle and a black nose. Their jaws are very strong with scissors-like bite.
They also vary in color and the most common amongst hem are tan, black and red, black. Rarer color variations include the sable, all black, all white, liver and blue varieties.
There has been quite an uproar and sensation on who holds the title of the largest German shepherd in the world. There aren’t many actually because this type of breed, in general, grows really well and in a very huge size. But there’s this one German shepherd dog which claimed the title of being the biggest German shepherd existed and his name is ‘Duke’.
So why is Duke so big? It is simply because her owners gives him vegetable and swears that the spinach has made her boy taller than any other German shepherds are. Duke has a son named Jake who is hitting 6’5”which is almost as tall as that of Duke. These breed are always served with slightly wilted spinach every dinner with roasted pumpkin.
Duke, at the age of 28 months old, stands 31 and ¾ inches almost 32” and now weighs only a thin 131 lbs. This magnificent dog is very laid back and a joy to who ever meet him.
Duke was born in Pulaski, TN at the Milky Way Farm. He was adopted while he was still just a puppy. He has currently lived with his current family for six years. Duke was said to like playing outside and running around the table at home; a typical energy from a dog this big and active. According to his owner, he enjoys chasing dragonflies and the ashes from bonfire.
