The yearly cost for maintaining the pool costs around 4 million US dollars. The pool was developed by Fernando Fischmann and his company ‘Crystal Lagoons’. The resort opened in December of 2006. The filtration system costs around 3.5 million dollars alone. The total construction costs of the pool are estimated at around 1.5 billion dollarss.
The water in the pool is warmed by the sun to around 26C and is nine degrees higher than the average sea temperature. It is six times bigger than the next largest swimming pool in the world which is the Orthlieb Pool in Casablanca, Morocco. The Orthlieb Pool covers around 8.9 acres and is 480 meters long and 75 meters wide which is not even close to the size of the gigantic pool found in Algarrobo, Chile.
