This can lead to serious threats to one’s health as more and more kids today have fallen ill because they spend more time playing video games than sleeping. The record for playing the longest gaming session belonged to Okan Kaya. He has played Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 for a world record of 135 hours straight over seven days. Okan Kaya is an Australian who was a fan of the game. When the game came out, it raised more than $500 million in its first day alone.
Officially, Okan Kaya’s record would be 121 hours without rest. He has been advised to take several hours of rest per day which summed up to around 20 hours worth of breaks. Within that time period, he was able to receive regular health examinations in order to monitor his health and perform sevearl exercise in order to provide stamina for him to go on much longer. The previous record holder for having the longest gaming session was held by a Canadian duo with only 120 hours but Okan Kaya’s record broke through with 135 hours.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 had a ladder system for its 4.2 million players. Okan Kaya tried to climb up the ladder and played straight for seven days so that he can ultimately reach his goal to become the number one player of the game. Unfortunately, by the time he was done with the record, he placed 37th spot on the overall position of the game worldwide.
There have been medical studies about people who play video games for long hours a day to have vulnerabilities when it comes to their health. People tend be more obese when they play more than 16 hours a day. Other symptoms include carpal tunnel syndrome, eye strain, and headaches. People who take longer hours to play games often have back pains as well since they do not practice proper sitting positions. There have also been studies in the social aspect of playing video games. It disconnects the person from the outside world hence hampering his social skills in real time interpersonal communication and relationships. This is why you often see video gamers become awkward in social gatherings.
