Most Expensive Airport in the World
Airports function to connect different countries with one another. Airport travels are rarely cheap and comfortable. Most people end up anxious and aggravated most of the time especially if their flights have been delayed or cancelled. Some of these are just worse at handling their customers while others tend to be very expensive but have the best customer service possible. So, which is the most pricey airport on earth today?
The record holder for the most expensive airport in the world is the Huntsville International Airport. It is also known as the Carl T. Jones Field. It is part of the Port Of Huntsville. Airfares can run up to $441 in just a single flight. The Huntsville International is found at the district of Huntsville in Madison County, Alabama, USA. It was established on October 1967 and was the third to open in the district. There are 12 gates with each sets of restrooms, shops, restaurants, phone booths, and a large spacious lounge for all the travelers. The west runway of it is 3,800 meters long and is the second longest runway in the southeast region of the United States.
There are reports that the commercial airlines have increased in passenger traffic since January 2010. As of August 2009, The Bureau of Transportation Statistics have discovered that most of the passengers of the airport pay the highest airfares in the United States as well as the entire world. This makes it the most pricey. No other around the planet has this many passengers paying for the highest airfares.
The Largest Airport in Terms Of Cargo Transport
The Huntsville International is the largest in the state in terms of cargo transport. It features daily cargo transport to different parts of the globe such as the Europe, Mexico, Hong Kong, and Brazil. It is also used in cargo operations with the Boeing 747. It is also the first in the US to install an ASR-9 dual channel its surveillance system. This means that the high tech facility is secured and is currently monitored by state of the art protection system.
Currently, it is under major renovations when the 60 million terminal expansion commenced. A new control tower was also built last 2007 and operated by May 2008. The parking lot was also expanded to accommodate the vast exodus of passengers day in and day out. There are also plans to extend the premises of it in the future. Projects such as an additional terminal area, additional runway and lengthening of the current airways are currently underway.
Truly one of the most spectacular ions our planet, the Huntsville International Airport has earned its named as one of the most pricey yet it is also one of the most high tech airport of all with its incoming expansions. Some might think that it would be better to go to other airports with its cheaper airfare but the world’s most pricey airport knows how to compensate its passengers.
