Oldest Man Ever Lived
Getting old is a part of life and is a vital part of the cycle. Then again becoming old can be a hassle as the more you get old the feebler you get. You also get to have various sicknesses and illnesses as you get old which some considers being a nuisance. For the most part, getting old has its advantages such as being wiser as you accumulate the wisdom and experience of life throughout the years. Reaching the age of 100 and plus is remarkable enough and there are those that have died and gone but there are a couple of men that lived the oldest in this world. The oldest man that had ever lived was a man named Jiroemon Kimura.
Jiroemon Kimura was born in Japan back in April 19, 1897. Kimura is Japanese by birth is recorded and verified to be the oldest man who have ever lived. Kimura died last June 12, 2013 at age 116 years old giving him the title of oldest man to have ever lived. He also toppled Japan’s recent oldest man title holder named Tomoji Tanabe who died in 2009 at age 113. Kimura died at the cause of pneumonia at his hometown of Kyotango, Japan.
Jiroemon Kimura was born at a small fishing village back in 1897. He had 5 siblings with him where they grew up with a normal family. There was an incident wherein Kimura’s birthday was incorrectly labeled as April 19 instead of March 19 but the family simply decided to carry it on. Kimura graduated school at an early age and worked around the local post office at age 20. During the Korea under Japanese rule, Kimura was sent to work as a communications officer before returning back to Japan. He then got married and had 7 children whom only 5 are still alive to this day. Kimura had then retired at age 65 with nearly 50 years of a post office career. He was awarded in 2012 as the oldest current living man on earth by Guinness. He even had a private meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister. He then died last June 12, 2013 garnering notable awards under his name.
Other Fabled Oldest Men
There have been a lot of old men that have lived past 110 and some are still alive even to this day. Kimura was verified to be the oldest to have lived but it’s hard not to acknowledge some that were fabled to have lived past 116 years old. One account in the bible states that a man named Methuselah who said to have lived 969 years old. Then again this is simply passed off as a theoretical or non realistic depiction considering not everyone is religious.
A more realistic but not really verified old person to have lived is a man named Thomas Parr also referred to as Old Tom. Thomas was an Englishman born during 1483 and was immersed in the world of art. They said he had lived at 152 years old but it was never verified because medical science wasn’t at its peak yet when he died at 1635.
Getting old may be dull but it’s a part of life. A person isn’t necessarily required to live at least a 100 years old or plus but it depends on their lifestyle and preferences. After all it’s the journey that matters not the destination.
