Oldest Woman Ever Lived
There is a running joke that women are very sensitive about their age. If you ask a woman how old she is, chances are she’ll either hate you or slap you. Then again the latter is likely to happen especially if the two of you are acquainted and the former would just ease up over time. They say that women are beautiful during the youth of their age. What some don’t realize that beauty is only skin deep which is kind of sad because that’s how majority of the people even women themselves. Women are beautiful none the less and their growth in age is sign of their maturity. And talking about maturity and age, the oldest woman to have ever lived is Jeanne Calment.
Jeanne Louise Calment was born in February 21, 1875 in the city of France. She currently holds the record for being the oldest woman to have ever lived in the world. She beats all male and female counterparts alike with her record holding age of 122 years old. She is so old that she actually met Vincent Van Gogh and according to her, he was the ordinary man wearing simple clothes.
Jeanne was born specifically in Arles, France bacin 1875. Jeanne’s father had a job making ships while her mother came from a family of millers. Jeanne was married to her second cousin in 1896. Her daughter unfortunately died earlier including her one and only grandson. Jeanne has since been in the spotlight since 1988 as she became a 110 years old plus. She became noticeable due to her stories about Van Gogh back in the day.
She also witnessed the creation of the Eiffel Tower. She also starred in a true to life story about Van Gogh titled Vincent and Me where she portrayed herself. A 1996 documentary regarding her life was also released titled Beyond 120 Years with Jeanne Calment. Sadly in August of 1997 due to a natural cause of aging where she had then held the title of oldest woman to have ever lived which has yet to be topped even to this day.
Other Oldest Living Women
There is currently a record of the oldest people in the world with 10 of them being very note worthy. Jeanne Calment is the oldest and number on that list but the list itself is dominated by 9 women with Calment included. The only man in the list is Jiroemon Kimura from Japan aged 116 years old after death. The other women on that list include Sarah Knauss from the US aged 119 years old after death. Lucy Hannah also from the US aged 117 years old after death. Marie-Louise Miller from Canada aged 117 years old. Maria Capovilla, Tane Ikai, Elizabeth Bolden and Besse Cooper all aged 116 years old after death. There are still several women living today to age at least over a hundred. The oldest woman currently living today is Misao Okawa from Japan recorded to be 115 years old.
They say that beauty is eternal which is true and as for women being young can only last a few years. Then again age is a number but the older the woman the better they may be.
