Smallest Child in the World
A child is a gift for every parent. Children are born into this world as a precious gift and most of them come out healthy. And although most of them are healthy enough to live in this world, some are unfortunate enough not to survive outside of the womb. Others on the other hand are somewhat fortunate to survive but have severe disabilities that could render them immobile or unable to do things that normal kids do.
But, it did not stop the smallest child in the world to become a normal child. The world’s smallest child might have the moniker but it did not stop her from going to school, earn new friends, and inspire other people that even with a severe disability, one can still live a normal and prosperous life filled with love and support from her parents.
Charlotte Garside is the world’s smallest child. With a height of only 68 centimeters tall, she is no smaller than your average teddy bear and is no bigger than a newborn baby. She weighs around 9 pounds. Charlotte was born with an extreme case of primordial dwarfism. It is a rare condition wherein the condition of dwarfism started from when she was just a fetus inside her mother’s womb when the usual dwarfism would start out early in life outside the mother’s womb.
Doctors believed that she would die before the age of one. But her parents believed that she would become one unique and exquisite human being in this world. When she was born, she weighed less than 2 pounds and was around 25 centimeters. The doctors thought she was premature but later had the tests to confirm that she was indeed born within the right stages. During her time at the hospital, she was so small that nurses and her parents would dress her up in doll’s clothes.
Although she is healthy physically, she still harbors a weakened immune system and cysts on her liver. But, her parents are optimistic enough that she can live a normal life but starting out with school. Along with her sisters Chloe, 15, Sabrina, 12, and Sophie, 8, the family decided to let her go to school and help her live a normal life. Even if she is physically and mentally underdeveloped, her parents hoped that she could still be able to learn new things at school and that the community around her would be tolerable.
With the help of her parents and her family, Charlotte is able to live a normal life and be able to continue living it even with the hovering fear that someday they might lose her as her physical well-being is slowly deteriorating. But, it still gives people a lot of hope that even if she was blessed to be able to live in this world with a condition, she is still able to give a certain kind of optimism to people who thought she would have died right after she was born.
