Man has roamed the Earth for several thousand years now. Civilization is coming to its peak and there are still things that are unknown to us. There are phenomena that is still intriguing to people. These mysterious phenomena might seem to be mysterious at first but once realized, it can become fascinating and amazing. Such is the case of the smallest living person in the world. Being the smallest person in the world might bring about apprehension to some people due to the fact that it is not every day that we get to meet people who are out of the ordinary. Sometimes, these extraordinary people might be met with aggression and fear but with the right attitude and education, these people might be world record holders.
One of the extraordinary feat is becoming the smallest living person in the world. At first, it was thought that Gul Mohammed from India was the smallest man alive at a height of 57 centimeters or 22.4 inches. But, it was recently discovered that another amazing human being carried the record of being the shortest man alive.
The title belonged to Gul Mohammed for several years but it wasn’t until 2012 when the shortest man was finally discovered in the heart of Nepal. Chandra Bahadur Dangi has never been out of his own small town when a businessman came into their small quiet town when his life took a drastic change. The businessman was so fascinated by his uniqueness that he was able to contact Guiness World Records to check on Chandra’s amazing feat.
Chandra along with his nephew flew to the capital city of Nepal to meet with the officials of Guiness World Records. It was also Chandra’s first time to ever leave his small town and fly in an airplane. By then, Guinness World Records have finally declared that Gandra Bahadur Dangi is the smallest living person in the world with 54.6 centimeters or 21.5 inches high.
Chandra is a 72 year old man who lives in Rhimkholi with his older brother. His family does not even know when Chandra stopped growing and instead accepted his uniqueness. But, with his unique features comes with discrimination. Chandra admitted to going to school early on but later quit. He now lives a simple life doing house chores and his life has never been this disturbed now that he is a local and international celebrity thanks to his uniqueness.
Along with winning the title of being the smallest living man on Earth, Chandra will receive a diploma. There will be no material compensation apart from the title itself but from that time on, Chandra’s life will surely take a drastic turn for the better now that he is known worldwide. Chandra might also be the smallest man on Earth but he is not alone, Jvoti Amge from India is known as the smallest woman on Earth. She stands 62.8 centimeters and only weights 12 pounds. Aside from that, Junrey Balawing from the Philippines was also a former record holder.
